Some coverage in Swedish newspapers – I read it as fairly self-righteous, It-is-Sweden-which-is-perfect:

Malaysias ledare mötte Sverige-barn
Skånskan, 1 February 2014

Malaysias ledare mötte Sverige-barn
Svenska Dagbladet. 1 February 2014

Malaysias ledare mötte Sverige-barn
Helsingborgs Dagblad, 2 February 2014

Barnmisshandel i Sverige – ministerfråga i Malaysia
Dagens Nyheter, 24 January 2014

Safeguarding children
It must be ensured that the issue of children's rights is not taken too far
New Straits Times, 2 February 2014
"News reports have highlighted concerns over how child protection operates in Scandinavian countries."

Some publicity for our views in Malaysia; the author (an editor of the paper) seems uncertain and not too well informed about child protection atrocities but rather more certain on being down on people who break the law:
When in Rome, do as the Romans do
New Straits Times, 2 februar 2014
"Prof Emeritus Marianne Haslev Skanland of Oslo, Norway, in a letter to the New Straits Times, said …. "

The people in the facebook group Bring Shal and Family Home (linked to above) are doing a lot of useful and important publishing. Here they have found another video from the tv and radio channel Astro Awani published on YouTube:

Datuk Hamzah Zainuddin meets with Malaysian couple detained in Sweden
Astro Awani, 29 January 2014

The Deputy Foreign Minister speaks Malay throughout the video, but of course some readers/viewers of YouTube speak it also!

An excellent video, based on real knowledge and insight, very informative, INSERT IGNOREed in this article!

Child Protection or Child Abuse in Sweden?
weechookeong, 20 January 2014

The video:
Wanted by The State: Your Children. Sweden.

Wee Choo Keong, who has the video on his home page, is also highly critical of the Editor-in-Chief of The Star and her political motives re The Star's coverage of this case:
Headline "fouled up" in The Star
By Wee Choo Keong, Former Member of Parliament for Wangsa Maju, Malaysia

Suranya Aiyar:
CHILD PROTECTION : Laws on kids' rights must not be excessive
New Straits Times, 3 February 2014

A family dilemma (editorial)
New Straits Times, 3 February 2014
(How much does this editor understand? "The ongoing case of a Malaysian family in Sweden, therefore, should not be regarded as the norm, but rather, the exception. In every likelihood, there has been a misunderstanding. Abuse is indeed uncalled for, not under any circumstances, but there are also enough examples where well-meaning administrative officers, in their overzealousness, have instead led to a miscarriage of justice.")

Treat kids as fellow humans

Schools near their aunt's home for the children:

Four siblings offered places in SMK, SK Padang Kala
Bernama, Official Portal of National News Agency of Malaysia
The Star, 3 February 2014
"Aishah told Bernama in an earlier interview that playing video games was one of the ways for her and her siblings to cope with the stress while in the care of a foster family appointed by Swedish authorities before their return to Malaysia."
So much for the Swedish idea that foster care is good for children.

Children that returned from Sweden eager to go back to school
New Straits Times, 3 February 2014
""Under the special circumstances, the department can approve their request to go to the schools of their choice," he said."
In Sweden they had no choice of anything in their lives at all.

The lawyer: "The court case will probably start on the 18 or 19 February … and last approximately seven days."
If they are found guilty, the punishment is minimum 6 months of jail, maximum 6 years.

Exclusive: Feb 10 court date for Malaysians

A little album, pictures of the children coming home:
Back home at last
Astro Awani, 6 February 2014

Culture is never wrong... except for Swedish culture?
However, all I can say for now is that I'm glad their four children are now back safely in the custody of their relatives rather than get lost in a social welfare foster system that practices an entirely different culture.
