An Austrian article on the Bodnariu case
and Austria's own CPS casesDer Fall Bodnariu (The Bodnariu case)
Katholische Nachrichten, 6 Mai 2016
The article writers, though, place Austria on the well-known high horse: They believe nothing like that could happen in
their country:
"In Österreich wäre so ein Fall undenkbar. Vorrangiges Ziel für die Sozialarbeiter ist es, mit der Familie zusammenzuarbeiten, gemeinsam Lösungen zu suchen. Ziel ist es immer, wenn nur irgendwie möglich, die Kinder bei ihren Eltern zu belassen."(Such a case would be unthinkable in Austria. The primary goal for a social-worker is to colaborate with the family seeking an agreed solution. It is always the aim, whenever in any way possible, to keep the children with their parents.)
Here is an article from 2012 about an Austrian case, however:
Social workers seize baby after his grandmother failed to pay a speeding fineMail Online, 6 February 2012
"But authorities have still not reunited mother and son, despite the fact Heidi quickly paid off the debt.
Distraught Ann-Kathrin, 18, now has even missed her child's first steps and understands he is with his second foster family, while social workers process the case."(cf

There is also the serious case from 2006 in which the European Court of Human Rights found Austria to have violated Article 8 of the Convention:
