These statements will be hated by barnevern!!!! But I do not care!!!

As this solution - to escape - is easiest for foreigners or mixed couples - i thought to write my comments in English - to give non-Norwegian speakers also the chance to seek help and advise.

Our experiences, our planning - we did it - and we succeeded!!!!

Anyway, lets start with planning the travel and the stay abroad.

1) Where to go - you MUST have friends or family in the destination you are travelling to, or you must KNOW the country from earlier stays. It's easiest if you get help with an appartment before you leave Norway. We had family to go to. They expected us with open arms.
2) Think through in which schools your kids should go to - do they know the language? that's important, although not 100% necessary. Our kids were luckily 3-lingual, they needed just a day to accommodate to the language.
3) Economy - what will you live of in the new place? If you are smart - think - if you are unemployed in Norway and get unemployment money, after 1 month you have right to seek for a job in another EU-country while receiving your unemployment money in the new country - up to 4 months I think. Prepare a CV and seek for job announcements already before you go. It may be hard to start in a low job in the new country, but what matters.... Just think, after-school care outside Scandinavia is rare and expensive, maybe one of the parents only can work half-day to take care of the kids in the afternoons (after 12.00, schools are often only 4-5 hours, starting at 7.30 in the morning!)

Behind in Norway - either sell your home (if barnevern asks why, tell them you plan to move in a smaller place), or quit the rental contract, maybe you can rent it out to someone else (not bad if you need some income), cancel all from newspapers, electricity, etc. readress the post to some relatives, sell everything you own on FINN.no. Personal things you may store away with friends or relatives.

4) if you escape with your kid which is in the hands of barnevern, you are a kidnapper and can be caught by the police also when you are outside Norway - they can return the child to Norway due to some international law - BUT: if you take your child a) in honest will that you do the best and b) if your child may otherwise face mental or physical harm if it would be returned to Norway and c) if you get a local lawyer who notifices barnevern back in Norway about your new destination and informes the local child court about the case - THEN YOU HAVE VERY GOOD CHANCES THAT THE CHILD WILL NOT BE RETURNED TO NORWAY AND THAT YOU CAN LIVE IN THE NEW COUNTRY IN PEACE!!
5) don't forget to register moving out of Norway the day you leave the country - and register in the new country the day you arrive!! the more honest you are, the better the chances.

in our case barnevern droped the case immediately!!! saying, when the family has moved abroad, it is not sensful to continue fighting. We sent prove that our child gets the needed medical help in the new country, so the lawyer of barnevern wrote that it would be irresponsible to send the child back to Norway - this would harm the child too much!

6) get the child to the local school immediately, otherwise you might get problems with the new local authorities - be honest, be present all the time, have good dialog with the teachers and the director, in the beginning at least once every week. then they see that you are good parents, and if you should get problem with the local barnevern (because the local lawyer has informed the local court about your refugee, who again will inform the local barnevern to check your family) - the school will witness that you are responsible parents.
7) if your child was taken by barnevern because of sickness - either of you as parents, or because the child has problems (ADHD, autism, etc.), organise a good doctor/ preferentially a well known specialist - in advance - before you travel. We had great contact with the national autism-organisation already several months before we left Norway, and they helped with doctors and tests and diagnose.

8 ) the escape: think and plan carefully - when will you see your child next - how many hours or maybe a weekend? How far is it to the next border? Don't think plane or boat from Norway, also no bus or train. Only car - not your own one, borrowed from a friend, rented from an agency... All payment must go in cash, no credit cards. Get some money changed in foreign currency, depending on how you travel abroad. By car to Sweden is the easiest - switch off the mobile phone, don't be reachable. Do NOT tell to anybody your plans!!!!!
As soon as you are outside Norway, you can use bus or train, but still avoid travels where you need to show your passports! Get to the country of your new destination as soon as possible.
9) do not prepare the children in advance - when you have "kidnapped" them, have phone books, i-pod, sweetis etc. ready to entertain them, when you are outside Norway, you can tell them everything and prepare them for the new country - and for living again together with you.
10) be aware that new technology may allow barnevern to put bugs onto your children clothes - therefore, when you meet them right before the escape, have NEW clothes ready for them, throw everything they wear away - and do not take with their bag (which they might have with them when visiting you). Pack only the most important things - a few clothes for each of you, important documents, school rucksacks, washing things and medicine. You will be surprised how little you need in life!!! And how happy you will be about this!

11) get new e-mail- addresses, get new phone-numbers (sim-cards) immediately in the new country - never use your sim-card/mobile phone on the travel!!!! just switch it off - like in good old times.
12) send a letter to the Norwegian embassy - if your children have two citizenships (mixed couple), and demand to give the Norwegian citizenship of the kids back!!! the new host country will NEVER return their own citizens back to Norway, if the kids only do have a citizenship from a country outside Norway.

I guess there are many more points to mention - but so late at night I cannot remember them right now...

Good luck to everybody who is deciding to take this step - we do not regret it! We enjoy life again, the children are healthy, happy, brilliant students, we parents are relaxed, engaged, and have finally good night sleep again.
don't wait too long to escape - ever day is important in your life - the assholes of barnevern don't deserve it to see you suffering day by day without your kids.
